Hope everyone had a Merry Whatever this year.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets

Earlier this year I sculpted on several sets for National Treasure: Book Of Secrets.
We had a good size team of sculptors and here is some of the work.

Rocks carved out of Styrofoam.

Foam rock wall installed in place on Gold City set.

Gold City almost complete.

from the left: raw, sculpted foam with ornament and rocks, foam rocks coated with plaster and the back of the wall showing how we blocked it up.

Wow!

Few of the Boys and I went night golfing under the lights of Verdugo Hills after work on Friday. We started on the back 9 and and on the course's hole #15, something special happened. 100 yards uphill, let's say 110 yards, I drove from the tee with a nine iron and hit the green close to the pin and the ball disappeared. The green ran a little down hill past the hole so we all thought it rolled out of sight. As we got to the green, my ball was nowhere in sight, we started running towards the pin and there was my golf ball in the hole. HOLE IN ONE!!! We were all going nuts, jumping up and down, truly amazing especially for me seeing as I have played the game less than 30 times. Wow is right.

Sid & Marty

Cranking along on Land Of The Lost and actually got to meet Marty Krofft (of Sid & Marty) today as he was checking out the set. Real nice guy and we thanked him for dreaming up such wacky stuff for our childhood.

Workin'

I'm now back to my work mode. We're doing 11 hour days with Saturdays becoming a possibility so it's pretty much work and not much else at the moment.
Chopping foam on Land Of The Lost at Universal Studios and the tour tram and Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine cruise by our stage every day. Ben Stiller even walked right past me while I was on break yesterday.
The Writers are out picketing, but the strike hasn't seemed to have affected us sculptors yet as our movie is building away and GI Joe is starting construction at a different studio this week. Still hoping that gets resolved soon.
