Fanzine Art

Now that I'm off work for the moment, I've been attacking my "to do" list.
Akiko and I need to get our fanzine, Track 56, out to the Central Mailer for CAPA Alpha and here's the cover I just finished.

I'm known in CAPA for putting together unlikely character combinations. This one is Lion-o from the 80's cartoon, Thundercats, with Marvel's Tigra in the background.

What's next?

Well, my sculpting run on Indy 4 has come to an end. Can't discuss anything I worked on, but I will say the sets looked great and Spielberg and company are going all out to bring the fans something special. Now the long wait for it's release.

Here are the rumors for what movies are next:
Star Trek is currently in the construction phase, Land Of The Lost is just about to get going, Transformers 2 & 3 might be ramping up in the beginning of the year and there's some talk of a GI Joe movie.
We'll wait to see where I end up.

Hollywood part 2

It's official, Indy 4 now has a name Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

As far as building sets for it, it's all coming to an end very quickly. Our sculpting crew has been slimmed down several times and I'm very privileged to be working on it right up to the end.
With that said, being part of set construction in the final days can be kinda hectic. The deadline is closing fast and all trades have to finish what they need to do all at once. With boom lifts jostling, we have to wait for the Carpenters to put up their wood structures that we need to clad with foam, Plasterers are waiting for us to get our foam up so they can plaster it, Painters are waiting to paint finished surfaces, Special Effects are installing steel mechanisms, Grips are rigging stuff from the perms and Set Decorators are waiting in the wings to dress the set. Up in the lift I was getting sprayed with plaster from one side, splattered with paint from the other and all the while raining down foam on everyone below. Clusterf@*% with a purpose.
Keeping you going is that you can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and know you'll soon be moving on to something else. Whew.

Hollywood, Baby

Who would have thunk that the guy working an office job in Rochester NY would end up chillin' with the stars in Tinseltown?
I'm currently sculpting in a stage at Warner Bros. and it's kind of fun walking out the stage door to see a tour tram filled with people staring at you as they listen to the history of the lot.
In true Hollywood style, I'm now going to drop some names. Star sightings have been common while at WB. On break I've seen Maura Tierney (Abby) and Mikhi Phifer (Pratt) from ER and Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies was getting a shot of wheat grass while I waited to order at Jamba Juice.

Akiko and I hit the hot LA club, Opera, for the National Treasure 2 wrap party. Great food, open bar and a special clip made just for the crew with bloopers and thanks from the stars made for a fun night. We even got to rub shoulder with Chris Tucker and Jerry Bruckheimer.
