What Akiko and I miss the most about upstate New York since we moved out to LA in 2000 is the changing colors and dropping temperatures of Fall. Something just doesn't feel right to us when it's 85 degrees and green in late October.
So we set out to at least find some colors. This year we ventured East towards Palm Springs to spend the day at Riley Farms in Oak Glenn. They had an apple orchard, a Pumpkin patch and people dressed in colonial outfits to give tours and answer questions. We got to press our own batch of apple cider and the fresh, warm apple dumpling was amazing. We found a little Fall in California.
